Our Garden

Our garden is still growing, producing a lot of tomatoes. So many that I have canned 6 jars of diced tomatoes, made crock pot spaghetti sauce, made endless amounts of salsa, a ton of dinners with fresh diced tomatoes and my favorite, sliced tomatoes with balsamic vinegar and fresh mozzarella melted under the broiler. (YUM)

My green peppers are still being eaten by something. But my husbands hot peppers are doing great and so are my scallions.

Something ate my squash plants (boo :( ) And still not a single bean - I've given up on them.

This years garden is not our best. The heat certainly took a tool on it and I just haven't had the time (too busy taking care of my two little ones) to maintain it like the past 2 years. Oh well! I'm happy for what we have gotten and I am already thinking about how to improve next years garden.

Tickles & Giggles Sale this Weekend!

This weekend is Hanover's largest consignment sale, Tickles & Giggles. It's located in the Presidential Business Park at 325 Business Lane, Ashland Va.

This sale has a lot of great fall items at GREAT prices. I love shopping here, always find nice gently used clothes for my kids. You should head out this weekend. Plus I have about 140 items in the sale, so if you need little boys clothes there's a lot :)

RVA Back to School Challenge

The RVA $10.00 Back to School Challenge came to an end on Sunday. I did pretty good. I had a 96.02% savings! Spent all but 0.15, which if I had calculated correctly on Sunday night would have used and been at an even $10.00 spent. Pretty much all of my purchases came from Staples, Office Max and Office Depot, since they had all the great deals. Can't beat supplies for 0.01.

This challenge was a bit more difficult then the previous ones because Staples and Office Depot are about 20 - 25 mins from my house and having 2 kids in tow always makes things harder (especially when my daughter has to nurse every 2 hours) But I was still able to get a lot (about 160 items) of great back to school supplies for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Richmond.

I LOVE Garage Sales

I headed out early this morning to hit some community garage sales and was very happy I went out. They didn't have much for boys. I was still able to get my little boy some super hero books, a Bob the Builder DVD and a steamroller. But my big find was girl clothes and shoes. Even though my daughter is only 2 1/2 months I am buying 12 month clothes for her for next summer. All the clothes were 0.50 each. That's a much better deal then consignment sales. And if you bought a lot from one person you got an even better deal, like a bag for $5.00 and you can get a lot in a bag. But the best deal I got was Stride Rite shoes for 0.50 a pair. Yes! 0.50 a pair! These retail for around $50 each.

They are in great condition! My little girl won't be able to fit into them until next year and maybe even not until the next year (the black ones) but you can not turn down a price like that.
